Abigale Lee
Mills (born September 21 1965) was a American dance instructor, choreographer
and reality TV host. Abby Lee Dance Company was created by her. It was a part
of eight seasons of the show Dance Moms. On June 27, 2016, Miller pleaded
guilty to felony bankruptcy fraud. Miller was sentenced to one year and one day
in federal prison, and released on the 27th of March the 27th of March, 2018.
In April of 2018 she was diagnosed with lymphoma, an aggressive form of cancer
that rendered her ineligible to walk. The wheelchair she uses now is used to
get around. Miller was raised in Penn Hills, Pennsylvania. She was a
professional dancer and studied under her mother at the Maryen Lorrain Dance
Studio. At the age of 14, Miller was given the task of in choreographing and
coaching one of the dance teams of her mother. Miller eventually took over the
studioand changed its name to Reign Dance Productions. Miller was certified by
Dance Masters of America, and was a member of Dance Masters of Pennsylvania
Chapter 10 (February 1986). However, DMA terminated her membership in February
2012 because Miller's reality television show Dance Moms was a "complete
mistaken portrayal of our teachers and students" and was damaging to the
profession.
